Michelle Welsh MP

Member of Parliament for Sherwood Forest

I’m Michelle Welsh, the Labour Member of Parliament for Sherwood Forest.

I was born and raised in Nottinghamshire, and my roots here shape everything I do in Parliament.

Before being elected to Parliament in 2024, I served our community as a councillor and have worked in education, adult social care and local government. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of the challenges and strengths of our local communities - from supporting families and improving education to strengthening local services.

In Westminster, I’m focused on tackling health inequalities and improving maternity care through my work as the Chair of both the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Maternity and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

My approach to politics is simple - I believe in service to my constituents, fairness, and giving a strong voice to local people. Every decision I make is guided by that commitment to making life better for our communities across Sherwood Forest and beyond.
